Overview
turfwar.bid ("we," "us") operates a pay-to-claim world map where businesses pay to display their brand on countries. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
We do not offer user accounts in the current version. Checkout is guest-only through Stripe.
Information you provide
When you claim or invade a country, you may submit:
- Display name / company name
- Website URL
- Short description (pitch)
- Brand color
- Cover image / logo
This information is stored to operate the Service and is shown publicly on the globe, hover cards, leaderboards, and invasion history.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and metadata needed to fulfill your purchase (such as amount and checkout status). We do not store full credit or debit card numbers on our servers.
Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Information collected automatically
When you use the site, we may collect:
- Usage and analytics — page visits, link clicks on company listings, country views, and aggregate purchase counts
- Presence signals — anonymous session identifiers to estimate live visitors on the map (displayed as an aggregate count)
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and request metadata for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention
- Local storage / session storage — theme preference (day/night), cached board snapshot for smoother loading, and session flags (e.g. visit counted once per session)
How we use information
We use information to:
- Display your listing on the map and public boards
- Process payments and record claims and invasions
- Operate live stats (visitors, clicks, conquerors, etc.)
- Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- Improve and maintain the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
Service providers
We use trusted third parties to run the Service, including:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Vercel — website hosting and file/blob storage for uploaded logos
- Neon — database hosting for map and leaderboard data
- Vemetric — website traffic and product analytics
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.
Public data
Information you submit for a claim or invasion is intentionally public. Anyone visiting turfwar.bid can see company names, links, logos, descriptions, spend totals, and invasion history. Do not submit sensitive personal data you do not want published.
Retention
We retain listing, payment, and analytics data for as long as needed to operate the Service, maintain public leaderboards and history, and meet legal or accounting requirements. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data longer.
Your choices
- Do not pay or submit content if you do not want information published
- Clear browser storage to remove locally cached theme or board data on your device
- Contact us to request correction or removal of content where applicable (removal does not entitle you to a refund — see Refund Policy)
Children
The Service is intended for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
